I have recently had 2 episodes toward early evening, of what I thought was robbing going on. Loud humming, flying around in a frenzy, looking through observation window appeared to be more activity than normal, but no dead bees nor fighting. I have no explanation for their behavior. Both times they settled down after about 15 minutes or so, with most from what I could tell bees entered and stayed in hive.

I had this problem last year the robber bees cleaned me out.When do you start looking for this mine was late summer

I totally understand. I’m still depressed about my bees being robbed two years ago, it was just awful. I was away for two weeks and when I got back, it was clear the hive had been robbed, dead bees on the ground, the inside was like a war zone, no honey left, comb ripped apart, just like a gang of thugs had come in and trashed the place. Awful. I know it’s nature, that the intruders just want the honey source, but it’s still a horrible, sickening sight to behold 🙁 I still get upset about it. My poor darling little bees, I let them down, I should have been here to help.

I found a small swarm and put them in a deep box and robber bees have almost destroyed it….I built a robber screen but hope it’s not too late….

I’m just trying to get started in bee keeping don’t know nothing about them .we got a 5 frame nuck this early summer doing ok i guess
