Is anyone monitoring the comments or questions? I really could use some help. — I followed a recipe I found elsewhere for 1 part beeswax to four parts jojoba or mineral oil. The boards are really “greasy” or “melted wax” feeling, even a day later. That doesn’t seem right. What now? Help!

I highly recommend you investigate this product, Internal Wood Stabilizer, by Timber Pro Coatings USA. It is extremely popular in the raised bed garden world, chicken coopers, and bee keepers. This is a nontoxic, 100% permanent wood waterproofer. It works better than other soft oil or wax sealer because it does not attract dirt or spores to the wood. In face, it fills the pores subsurface to waterproof so there is nothing on the surface of the wood whatsoever. It is zero VOC and two coats are permanent, no need to reapply….ever. Amazing product!

Great idea. I may try this on my bee hives.
I must ask, though. What is the charcoal for? I understand that the beeswax is a sealant, but, I can’t figure out, what the charcoal does, other than colors the coating. Thanks!

Thank you for this great info. It’s something I’ve worried about for a long time now. But approximately how much wood (4 X 4) will one jar treat? One raised bed as shown in the photo?
