I’ll echo Rick, & thank you kindly for putting this together. My neighbor had a hive that didn’t make it… I am in no financial position to become a bee keeper (Covid was not kind to my business or my family’s health) but I’m planting flowers to support his next batch of pollinators and reading up what I can to ready myself. 🙂 Wishing you and your followers a safe and abundant year. This was super helpful.
Stay Well.

I just did my first ever hive inspection and have been so worried about my bees, burr comb and all the rest. This has put my mind at ease a bit.

Small correction is suggested.

The author is correct that a strong hive is the best defense against these pests. If additional help is needed, oil traps with apple cider vinegar as lure works well. Please do not use chemicals for off label purposes to control SHB!
